Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David.
Both London clubs are interested in signing David, according to TSN (via Caught Offside). Arsenal has expressed interest in the Canadian forward, although it is unclear whether he would leave France during the current winter transfer window.
Both Chelsea and Tottenham have good reasons to want to recruit David, who has dominated Ligue 1 in recent years. In 30 appearances across all competitions this season, the 22-year-old has 16 goals to his name.
David has already outperformed his performance in the 2020-21 season, when he scored 13 goals in 48 games. In only 24 appearances, he has scored 18 goals for Canada as well. Last summer, the Blues re-signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a club-record fee of £97.5 million. However, in 24 appearances in all competitions this season, the Belgian international has only scored eight goals. Despite the contributions of Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech in the final third, Thomas Tuchel's squad still lacks a goalscoring striker.
Tottenham Hotspur, on the other hand, has struggled this season due to Harry Kane's inconsistency. Spurs have only scored 26 goals in their 20 Premier League games this season. Son Heung-min, their best player this season, is also out with an injury. If Kane isn't at his best, David will offer them with firepower up front. Should the Englishman leave Tottenham at the end of the season, the Lille forward might prove to be a long-term investment.
Tottenham Hotspur were defeated by Chelsea. once more
On Sunday night, Chelsea faced Tottenham in a crucial Premier League match. The Blues strolled to a 2-0 victory, as many predicted, in a game in which the Spurs barely troubled the home defence.
Early in the second half, Hakim Ziyech scored at Stamford Bridge with a spectacular curling attempt. Thiago Silva quickly increased his team's lead, heading home Mason Mount's set-piece.
Tuchel's side beat Spurs for the fourth time this season, and they haven't conceded a single goal in the process. They triumphed 3-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the opposite league encounter before advancing to the League Cup semi-finals with 2-0 and 1-0 victories in both legs.
With 36 points from 20 games, Antonio Conte's side is now seventh in the Premier League. They are two points behind Manchester United in fourth place, although they have two games in hand. Chelsea, on the other side, is still in third place after 24 games with 47 points.
